18th ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT!

Dear friends, players and sponsors of the Friends of Betty Schildroth Golf Tournament,

I would like to update you with several items concerning the tournament and the future of our event.

First, Todd Hejna, George Csolak and myself recently presented a check for $7,000 to Shelley Powell and Barrett Hadican of St. John's Mercy for in-home hospice use for patients who can't afford hospice care. To date,  after 17 years of the tournament, this group has helped raise $104,500 for this worthy effort.

We could not have achieved this total without the help of you, our players, sponsors and friends.

Second, the board of directors has decided to take a 1-year break from the event.  This year, 2010, will be an exciting time for me. I am running for the Missouri House in the 76th district. I will be spending a lot of time with this campaign and will not be able to do that and run a golf tournament.

I promise we will be back in 2011, hopefully at the GC of Florissant with a possible morning shotgun start.   We will keep this website updated when we have news.

Finally, if you are interested in helping me reach a lifetime goal, I am in the process of raising $25,000 to achieve this goal.  If you would like to help me, you can make donations to Friends For Keith Schildroth: 40 St. Alice Lane, Florissant, Mo. 63031. The name of the campaign is Friends For Keith Schildroth.

If you have any questions about myself and the race, you can e-mail me at Keither1978@hotmail.com or call me at 314-839-2927.

Thank you for everything you have done for this tournament and for the memory of my mother.

Keith Schildroth

The proceeds from the Golf Tournament and Auction provide revenue for St. John's Hospice to use in their work with individuals and families dealing with end-of-life illnesses. St. John's Mercy Hospice provides services to more than 1,140 patients and their families each year. Patients come from across St. Louis City and 13 surrounding counties. No individual is denied Hospice care regardless of their age, race, gender, creed, physical condition or ability to pay for services. Families who are uninsured or underinsured can take comfort in the fact that hospice services are available to them.

If you would like to participate, you can purchase a foursome by following the instructions on this website. To date we have raised over $95,000 for St. John's Hospice. Please continue as our partner in supporting this very worthwhile cause.

A silent and oral auction will also take place Saturday evening. Cash or checks only for auction items - all items must be paid for the night of the auctions!. All attendees will receive lunch, beverages all day, a complimentary bag of gifts, 18 holes of golf with a cart and a steak dinner!  All the usual extras will be available. If you are interested in getting involved this year, please contact Keith Schildroth as soon as possible, the tournament is filling up faster than ever, so be sure and get your money in - first come first serve.

Foursome Money is due May 1, 2009 (no paying of entry fees the weekend or day of the event). New groups have already contacted us, THIS TOURNAMENT WILL FILL UP - please don't wait. Send checks to: Keith Schildroth, 40 St. Alice Lane, Florissant, MO 63031.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

All money collected goes to the St. John's Hospice group. Hospice care is a compassionate method of caring for terminally ill people. Hospice is a medically directed, interdisciplinary team-managed program of services that focuses on the patient/family as the unit of care.

Hospice care is palliative rather than curative, with an emphasis on pain and symptom control, so that a person may live the last days of life fully, with dignity and comfort, at home or in a home-like setting. The St. John's Hospice group was there when the Schildroth Family needed them the most, through some of the most difficult times, the St. John's was there. Find out more about Hospice Services
